Grants

Federal Funds  

Federal Pell Grant

Award: Between $400 and $4050.

Students seeking assistance may apply for this need based federal grant by filing the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA.  The amount of this grant varies and ranges from $400 to $4050 for the 2006-2007 award year.

Federal Supplemental Educational Grant (SEOG)

Antioch College awards SEOG to those students determined to have high financial need.  To apply, file the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA.  Award amount varies based on individual family contributions.

National SMART Grant

The National SMART Grant is an award for full-time students at degree-granting institutions who are eligible for Federal Pell Grants and are U.S. citizens, majoring in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology, or a critical foreign language. An eligible student may receive a National SMART Grant of $4,000 for each of the third and fourth academic years of study.

Academic Competitiveness Grant Program

An eligible student may receive an Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) of $750 for the first academic year of study and $1,300 for the second academic year of study. To be eligible for each academic year, a student must be a U.S. citizen receiving a Federal Pell grant and enrolled full-time in a degree program. Students must be enrolled in the first or second academic year of his or her program of study at a two-year or four-year degree-granting institution. Students must have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study (after January 1, 2006, if a first-year student, and after January 1, 2005, if a second-year student). First-year students may not have been previously enrolled in an undergraduate program

State Funds

DC Tuition Assistance Grant

Award: Up to $10,000 a year.

The DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG) is a grant that allows you to attend any public institution in the nation as if you're a resident of the school's state.  You pay the low in-state tuition and the grant pays the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition up to $10,000 a year. With a maximum of 5 award years that can amount to a lifetime of $50,000, this grant makes affordable college tuition a reality.

Ohio Choice Grant

Award: $900 a year to Ohio residents.

This state program provides a grant of $900 for the 2007-2008 award year and can be awarded up to four years to students who are Ohio residents.  Ohio Choice Grant is awarded to each full-time student who is a resident of Ohio; has not enrolled full-time at a college or university prior to July 1, 1984; attending a four-year private institution; and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree.  To receive this grant, eligible students must complete and return an Ohio Choice Grant Student Certification of Eligibility.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)

Award: To Ohio residents.

The State of Ohio awards need-based tuition assistance to Ohio students from low to moderate-income families. Awards are based on the student's EFC, which is generated through a completed FAFSA. If an estimated OCOG appears on your Financial Aid Award Letter, the amount has not yet been confirmed by the Ohio Board of Regents (OBR) and is only an estimate of your eligibility.

Pennsylvania State Grant

This grant is available to eligible full-time students who are residents of Pennsylvania and choose to attend an accredited school in Ohio. To apply for this program, file the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA each year.

Rhode Island State Grant

The Rhode Island State Grant Program is designed to provide grants (non-repayable financial assistance) to those students whose family resources are not sufficient to meet the costs of higher education. Applicants for the Grant program must file a completed FAFSA.

Vermont Incentive Grant

Any Vermonter who plans to attend college full-time, and doesn't already have a bachelor's degree, is eligible to apply for a Vermont Incentive Grant.  To apply, complete a Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) and a Vermont Grant Application. 

 

Institutional Grants

Challenge Grant

Award: $4,000 first-year, may increase to $8,000 second-year.

The Challenge Grant is awarded to students that show exceptional merit but have not been awarded a Community Responsibility Scholarship.  This grant can be awarded in the amount of $4,000 the first-year.  Scholarship amounts may increase to $8,000 in the second-year provided students complete their first-year in good academic standing and progress through their academic program according to Antioch College guidelines.  Community Responsibility Scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive the Challenge Grant. 

Antioch Community Scholar Grant

Award: $2,100 per year ($1,050 per semester).

The Antioch Community Scholar Grant is awarded to students who have shown exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to service. Each year a committee convened by the Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom selects students to receive this competitive need based award. Students must be admitted by the Office of Admissions with a Community Responsibility Scholarship before they may be considered for the Antioch Community Scholar Grant.

A separate application is required to apply for the Antioch Community Scholar Grant. More information and applications for this program are available through the Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom .
