Book Notes

Doug Goodkin ’74 just published a book on music education titled Play, Sing & Dance: An Introduction to Orff Schulwerk. Published by Schott, a European publisher, Play, Sing & Dance is a philosophical and comprehensive look at a dynamic approach to music education known as Orff Schulwerk. The book re-imagines its import in the lives of children, schools and culture at large in contemporary times. Those new to Orff Schulwerk will get a glimpse of its basic tenets and broad scope, while those already teaching it will find both reminders of its generative ideas and details of its practice.

It was at Antioch that Goodkin was first introduced to the Orff Schulwerk approach.
