Update on the Committee of 150

By Kya Kowalczyk ’05, Committee of 150 Project Manager

The Committee of 150 Renewal Project was designed in order to realize projects that would otherwise be difficult to complete due to high costs associated with the level and quality of service. The Project works to bring volunteers to our campus to work on projects that will have a long-lasting effect.

This is a great opportunity for alumni to visit Antioch, to meet current community members while working with them on important projects, and to create stronger bonds across generations.

The following is a list of projects that we are working on. Please email the Committee of 150 at c150@antioch-college.edu if you are interested in these projects or if you would like to suggest a new project and/or refer a volunteer.

The Projects:

1. Survival Guide Japanese Translation
A volunteer who is fluent in both English and Japanese is needed to translate. This may require breaking up the Guide into sections and the help of a number of volunteers.

2. Public Art Workshops
Volunteer artists who have experience with public art are invited to hold workshops for the community on their form of public art. We are also looking for donations of art supplies to use for these workshops.

3. Restoration of the Antioch Commons
Robert Neifert ’03 is volunteering his expertise to work on the restoration of the Antioch Commons—prairie, forest, gardens and wildflower/tree nurseries. Monetary donations as well as physical help would be welcome.

4. Co-op Publication
Volunteers willing to have their co-op papers included in a publication or to be interviewed about great co-op experiences are asked to share their stories for publication. This project is still being developed and is open to suggestion. We are looking for a way to bring the printing cost down.

5. Alternative Library
Donate radical and intelligent literature to the alternative library! The shipment of books would be considered part of your donation. We invite you to deliver them yourself and party (!!!) with the ever-grateful Antioch community!
