Alumni Board Elections

Eight Antioch College Alumni were elected by mailed
ballots during the 2004 election. Ballots were mailed to
14,000 Antioch College Alumni in April 2004. Results
were then tabulated and announced during Reunion
2004 on June 25, 2004. Nearly 1,100 ballots were
returned and counted.
Two of the elected board members were incumbents
who were elected to their second three-year terms. They
are Molly Schultz ’98 and Steven Duffy ’77. Elected
to three-year terms were Ellen Borgersen ’72, Tim
Eubanks ’00, Ina Fleegler Frank ’60, Edward
Goldson ’62, Steven Oliver ’90, and Dean Parmelee ’70.
At Reunion in June, the Alumni Board also appointed
three candidates from the ballot to fill three
vacant seats, bringing the Alumni Board to its maximum
capacity of 30 members. Bradley Wilburn ’84,
Kristin Pett ’90 and Richard Daily ’68 were each
appointed to three-year terms.
Graduates from the 1960s returned the most ballots,
followed by the 1950s, the 1970s, the 1940s, the 1990s,
the 1980s, the 2000s and the 1930s.

The first step toward becoming a member of the
Alumni Board is to be nominated – self-nominations are
acceptable. The key requirement is that one must be an
alum of Antioch College. The nominations are reviewed
each year by the Nominations Committee of the Alumni
Board. A slate is then submitted for approval by the full
Board.
The Nominations Committee considers an array of
factors when assembling a slate. Primarily, the Committee
aims to help create a board that is representative of
the 14,000 living alumni, with respect to gender, class
year, skill sets, geographical region and areas of concentration.
This important process is often concerned with
helping to deal with imbalances that have occurred following
the election process and under-representation
is constantly being addressed as the Board membership
evolves from year to year. Many of these same
considerations are addressed when the committee makes
its recommendations for appointees.
