HIGHLIGHTS OF REUNION 2004

The 1950s Alumni Reunite

The Class of 1954 is urging all 50s grads to celebrate in 2004. Getting a critical mass of participants will generate more interest among classmates and create a wider base of familiar faces and shared experiences at all of the College Reunion activities. Come a day early—Thursday, June 24—for a full day of memories and socializing. Be sure to stay for the party on Saturday the 26th from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the home of Ilse Opton Tebbetts ’54 and Cy Tebbetts ’52. For more information contact Ed Granai ’54 at egranai@aol.com.

Alumni Film & Video Festival

For the first time, Reunion will feature an Antioch Alumni Film and Video Festival. Special screenings of films by alums will occur each evening with an open screening on Saturday afternoon. Bring an example of your work to share at the open screening. We’ll also host a special party for media folks. Saturday evening will be the announcement of the “Hanig Prize.” Honoring documentary filmmaker Joshua Hanig ’74, the annual prize will provide financial support for an Antioch student’s social documentary work. Hanig’s film Men’s Lives, one of the many he completed before his untimely death from cancer in 1998, will be shown, followed by a reception. For more information contact Julia Reichert ’70 at julia@donet.com.

Faculty Tribute! A Tradition Begins

This year several alums have chosen to honor Al Denman, Professor of Philosophy, emeritus. Al has reluctantly but graciously agreed to participate.

“Al was one of those magical professors at Antioch who stretched the classroom beyond any recognizable shape to facilitate a kind of learning few of us had ever imagined. Come share your favorite Al experience or find out why Al left such an indelible impression on so many of us.”

Alumni interested in being on the Al program should contact Jennifer Berman ’84 at humerusjkb@aol.com.

King ’51 Accepts Horace Mann Award

Ms. King, the final speaker of the sesquicentennial year, will present on Friday, June 25, from 1:30 –2:30 PM in Kelly Hall. King is the founding president and CEO of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta.
