Program Director
Daria Lucka, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. She holds her Ph.D. in sociology from Jagiellonian University with a thesis entitled: “Between Liberalism and Communitarianism: Civil Society in Poland, 1989-2000.” She has published in numerous publications and has presented her work extensively throughout Europe. In 2003, she received the Jozef Tischner Fellowship at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, Austria, for a project entitled: Civil Society, Nationality and Religion: Allies or Enemies?
Professor Lucka’s academic interests include: political sociology, theories of political systems, sociology of social change, and transformation in Central Europe. In the Fall of 2004, she spent a semester at Antioch College as a Visiting Professor.
The Program Director conducts the Orientation, leads seminars, supervises independent research projects, and evaluates students' work. She is supported by various site coordinators, faculty at the Jagiellonian University, and guest lecturers.
